During the day you will learn how to prepare traditional Finnish roast meat, the so called “robber’s roast”, in a cooking pit, while enjoying the outdoors with good company! The cooking pit is located on the Spa’s own beach, so you can sit around the bonfire by the sea, in an authentic setting and grill a few sausages or salmon while waiting for the delicious dish to be ready. The day is topped off with a delicious feast at the Spa’s restaurant or by the grill house by the sea. The roast meat and the dinner are prepared using local, high quality produce and seasonal ingredients from the nature.
The activity can be combined, for instance, with a short walk, bike ride or canoeing in the beautiful nature of Ruissalo island, known for it’s oak groves and idyllic wooden villas. Or stay overnight at Ruissalo Spa – relax in the warm pools, take a dip in the sea and enjoy the traditional Finnish sauna or treatments.
Programme of the day:
- First you will see how a cooking pit is prepared, how to build the right kind of fire and how to prepare the meat for the cooking. By midday the roast is lowered into the pit.
- In the afternoon you can sit around the fire, grill sausages and enjoy cold drinks while waiting for the meat to be ready. You can also try plank cooking salmon over an open fire!
- In the evening there will naturally be a roast meat feast in the restaurant Merisali or at the grill house by the sea.
Other activities can be combined to the day according to the group’s wishes.
